1. What time are your Sunday School and Worship Services?
Our Sunday School begins at 9:30 a.m. Right now, we have Sunday School for adults and children (age 4-8). Other age-group classes are available as needed.
Sunday worship service begins at 10:45 a.m. We return for our Sunday evening Bible study at 6:00 p.m.
2. Are you part of a denomination?
Redeemer is a mission work of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church (OPC), a denomination that understands the Bible and all it teaches about God, Christ, man, and the gospel through the Reformed faith.
We’re within the regional church of the Presbytery of Southern California.
See What We Believe for more information.
3. What is the preaching like?
We usually preach consecutively through a book of the Bible. Each sermon explains and applies a specific portion of the Bible.
We are concerned to know what God the Holy Spirit intended for it to convey, through the Biblical authors, to the audience to whom it was written, and what that means and how it applies to God’s people throughout the ages.
Additionally, we are particularly concerned with how each passage connects to Christ, the gospel, and the great doctrines of Scripture.
Consequently, you will hear Christ preached in every sermon, while you hear the word of God accurately handled with regard to what else the text also has to say and mean.
4. What is the music like?
We sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs using the red Trinity Hymnal and the Trinity Psalter. The selections usually complement the theme of the sermon.
Our musical accompaniment is sometimes provided by a piano, and usually with a violin. We sing God’s praises by the entire congregation, and our accompaniment aids, and does not detract from or obscure, our voices.
5. Do you have communion?
Yes, we partake of the Lord’s Supper on the first and third Sundays of every month.
6. What is the fellowship like at Redeemer on Sunday?
After worship, members of the church are encouraged to spend time greeting each other and engaging in further fellowship.
We also have a “pot-providence” fellowship meal on the third Sunday of every month right after the morning worship service. It’s always a blessing to spend time with God’s people.
7. What programs do you have for children and teens?
We have Sunday School classes for the younger children (4-8 years old).
We have a Youth Group on Thursday nights for those 13-21 years old. We study various topics such as Christian Worldview, Apologetics, Evangelism and more. We also have an informal fellowship time after each study, and occasional youth activities.
Our covenant children participate in our other fellowship activities.
8. What programs do you have for adults?
Sunday School at 9:30 a.m.
Men’s Bible Study: second and fourth Friday nights each month.
Women’s Bible Study: first and third Friday nights each month.
9. What events do you have at Redeemer?
In addition to opening our homes to one another during the week, Redeemer regularly hosts beach days, game nights, movie nights, etc. at the worship location or in various homes of our members. These are wonderful events for you to relax, have fun, and bring a friend .
10. What translation of the Bible do you use?
Our pastor reads, preaches, and teaches from the 1977 New American Standard Bible. We have ESV Bibles available for people who need one.
11. Where does the church meet?
We meet at Pearl City Elementary School:
1090 Waimano Home Rd., Pearl City, HI 96782.
The driveway into the school property is the first left turn on Waimano Home after you turn off of Farrington Hwy. It is right after the baseball field and just before the police station. Take that driveway to the end and park in the innermost parking lot.
We meet in the cafetorium, just down the steps and to the left.
